Thames Ditton, KT7: pond refurbishment in a north facing, established garden.
A long lost feature in the middle of a large garden has been brought back to life. This lovely pond had a nasty crooked 1970's concrete wall around the top. It was utterly overgrown and had been badly repaired on numerous occasions. Reclaiming something like this from rampant mother nature can be as satisfying as creating something new.
The whole thing was decanted into an inflatable pool saving the waterlilies, a frog and 2 newts! All the slime was removed, render was repaired and the stone edges reinstated using old York stone we had dug out from the back of the garden. The uneven slabs were given new bullnose edges on site.
